• Lombard Assembly of God Church, 447 W. North Ave., has announced its selection of the Rev. Jason Davis as its new pastor. He is a 2002 graduate of Evangel University and was ordained an Assembly of God Minister in 2004. His first official ministry will begin Aug. 24 at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service immediately after the 9:30 a.m. adult Bible study. Guests are welcome to both services and a free luncheon. • The 2008 Children’s Fall/Winter Clothing Resale will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 314 W. Vallette Ave., Elmhurst. Thousands of gently used, high-quality infant through pre-teen fall and winter clothing items, shoes, coats, jackets and more will be sold. All sales are final. • The 2008 Children’s Toy and Equipment Resale will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 314 W. Vallette Ave., Elmhurst. A wide selection of gently used, high-quality toys, games, books, baby equipment, bicycles, bedding, infant accessories and more will be on sale for a fraction of the original retail price. • Ron Raben, education director of Congregation Kneseth Israel in Elgin, will talk about the history of upcoming Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Victory Centre of Bartlett, 1101 W. • Celebrate Native American Day and Active Aging Week with a drumming circle led by music therapist Rita Lopienski at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Victory Centre of Bartlett, 1101 W. Learn about the history of drums and how they are used in their cultures, and experience first-hand the therapeutic benefits of playing them, such as stress reduction, self expression and spirituality. • First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton kicks off another program year and returns to its regular worship schedule Sunday, Sept. 7. Carlton Ave., will be introducing a new Wednesday evening program titled “Wednesday Worship in Study and Song.” On Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, they will begin with a light dinner in Steward Hall at 6:15 p.m. After dinner, they will gather in the Ministry Center for a time of singing led by David Lincoln and Jay Moses. At 7 p.m., their study time will begin as Paul Kirbas leads a four-week educational journey titled “Islam: Should We Fear It?” During the study time, David Lincoln will be offering a Children’s Music Program for all interested children.
