Yorkville at Batavia
WHEN 7:30 p.m. Friday
WHERE 1200 W. Wilson St., Batavia
RECORDS Yorkville (2-3, 1-2 Western Sun); Geneva (1-4, 0-3)
OUTLOOK Whether the Foxes are for real (they had Geneva on the ropes in the conference opener, and all their losses have come against teams battling for conference titles) is inconsequential for the Bulldogs. Batavia needs to win out for a shot at the playoffs, and it starts with Yorkville coming in for a homecoming clash.
While the Bulldogs are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, two of those losses (to Glenbard South and Kaneland) have come by a combined seven points. Not that it magically turns those losses to wins, but it shows the Bulldogs are close to righting the ship.
Danny Seiton and Braden Hartmann give Batavia a multi-faceted running game that is tough to defend, while its run defense has been stout most of the season.
But the key to this game rests with the Bulldogs’ ability to respond when their backs are against the wall.
