CAROL STREAM – Earlier in the season, York topped Lake Park at an invite, but the three-time defending state champion Lancers got the best of the Dukes on May 17 at the Class 3A Glenbard North sectional. HINCKLEY – The IC girls soccer team failed to get to the program's first Final Four appearance after losing to Johnsburg 2-1 in Tuesday's supersectional at Hinckley-Big Rock. Johnsburg scored twice in the first 10 minutes and a first-half penalty kick goal from senior Angela Toritto got IC back within one, but the equalizing goal never came.
ELMHURST – One down. The York softball team won its playoff opener Tuesday in dominant fashion, 12-0 over Lincoln Park at Bryan Middle School. The Dukes plated 10 runs in the first and cruised to a five-inning victory.
CHARLESTON – Lindsay Graham went to state with the goal of running a personal best time in the 3,200-meter run. Instead, the Glenbard East freshman bursting with potential had to settle for fifth place. Graham, who set a new personal record in the sectional at 10:41.92, ran the two-mile in 10:42.42 on Saturday in the Class 3A race in Charleston.
