St. Charles, IL -

On Thursday, Colonial Cafe in St. Charles on Route 38 will sell pancakes for a penny to help the Schnaitman family of St. Charles.

The Schnaitmans are one of many families helped by The Compassion Foundation. They have faced hardships such as job loss, possible eviction and high-risk pregnancy.

Colonial will serve penny pancakes all day Thursday to dine-in customers who also purchase a beverage.

The restaurant said they sold 3,200 pancakes at last year’s event at the Route 64 location.

Donations can also be made to the Compassion Foundation, earmarked for the family, and mailed to P.O. Box 270, Aurora, IL 60507.
