BATAVIA
Deceptive practices
needs 2nd. bb At 4:30 p.m. June 15 at Prairie Path Cycles, 122 W. Wilson St., a bike was purchased in the amount of $1,007.27 with a check. The check later was returned by the bank because the account had been closed.

Theft from vehicle
At 8:53 p.m. June 16 at Party City, 341 N. Randall Road, a car stereo and an MP3 player were removed from a vehicle. The total value was $400.

Theft
At 2:45 p.m. June 16, an unknown suspect removed a mower valued at $300 from the 300 block of North River Road.

Reckless driving
Maurice Smeets Jr., 54, 1344 Goldenrod Drive, was taken into custody and cited for reckless driving and failure to reduce speed at an accident at 1:53 p.m. June 17 at River Road and Wilson Road. Smeets was released with a court date of July 7 after posting his driver’s license as bond.

Warrant
Jeffery Wilkerson, 51, of 1335 Wilson St., No. 306, was taken into custody on an outstanding Batavia Police Department warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:32 a.m. June 18. Bond is set at $3,000.

Residential burglary
At 10:01 p.m. Friday, June 19, a resident of the 300 block of Elm Street reported unknown offenders gained access to her residence and took 700 to 1,000 compact discs. The estimated loss was $20,000.

Retail theft charged
Shannon C. Smith, 22, 921 State St., DeKalb, was observed leaving Kohl’s, 251 N. Randall Road, at 4:19 pm. Saturday, June 20, without paying for two pairs of shoes valued at $90. Smith was charged with theft taken into custody and transferred to the police department. She paid $100 for bond and was given a July 14 court date.

Battery
At 1:10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, a victim was hit by an unknown subject at Rendezvu, 1 E. Wilson. The offender fled on foot and police were unable to locate him. The victim was treated by paramedics and released.

GENEVA

Public intoxication

  •  Elizabeth A. DePhillips, 30, 412 Prairie View Drive St. Charles, was found facedown in an alley on the 100 block of South Third Street at 12:33 am. Friday, June 19. Police gave DePhillips a citation for public intoxication.
  •  Anthony T. Salerno, 49, 215 W. State St., was issued a public intoxication ticket at Old Town Pub, 201 W. State St., at 1:52 a.m. June 17. Salerno had an argument with another patron when he called the patron’s girlfriend a derogatory name and was found by police in a large argument outside of the bar.


Underage drinking
Michael S. Ryan, 18, 11 Branford Ave., Batavia, and Zachary C. Wilderspin, 17, 437 Union Ave, St. Charles, were both given consumption of alcohol by a minor citations at 11:13 p.m. June 18. Both had plastic cups with vodka and soda.

DUI charges filed

  • Dawn R. Basak, 38, 1445 Legacy Drive, Unit 1, DeKalb, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence at 12:52 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at 200 Maple Lane.
  • Aaron S. Moreno, 22, 1169 Hamton Lane, Yorkville, was cited for two counts of driving under the influence, speeding, driving in the wrong lane and driving an uninsured vehicle at 11:52 p.m. June 12.
  • Jessica C. Martin, 20, 1054 Lorlyn Circle, Apt. 1E, Batavia, was arrested at the 2000 block of South Kirk Road and charged with three counts of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and consumption of alcohol by a minor at 12:45 a.m. June 13.
  • Natalie E. Brown, 23, 7 S. Lincoln Ave., was pulled over on the 400 block of Stevens Street and cited for two counts of driving under the influence, driving in the wrong lane and unlawful possession of marijuana at 1:51 a.m. June 13.


Reckless driving
Tyler R. Reese, 18, 1199 Buttercup Lane, Bartlett, was stopped by police at 2:03 p.m. June 12 on the 1100 block of Union Street and cited for reckless driving and given a court date of July 21. Reese allegedly didn’t slow down where there was construction and jumped his vehicle over a curb and onto a lawn at 1125 Union St.

Soliciting
Lavince J. Robinson, 22, 5901 S. Harlem Ave., Chicago, was given an ordinance ticket for soliciting at 3:55 p.m. June 11. Robinson tried to sell a resident living a 754 Fox Run Drive a magazine subscription when the resident had a “no soliciting” sign up.

Theft
Between 7 a.m. and 1:17 p.m. June 15, a GPS system, valued at $450, was stolen from a Honda Civic at 300 S. Randall Road. The driver’s side window was broken. Car damage estimate is unknown.

Burglary
Between 3 p.m. June 12 and 6:30 a.m. June 15, three chainsaws, two ropes and two saddles were stolen from a truck at Geneva Generating Facility, 1717 Averill Road. The cargo doors of the truck were pried open and damaged. The items held a $2,100 total value.
