BATAVIA, IL -

This year at Batavia’s Quilt and Textile show, from Friday, July 17, to Sunday, July 19, Lois Jarvis will display “The Ground Zero Quilt” at Shannon Hall, 14 N. Van Buren St.

The quilt was made in memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center.

Jarvis said on her Web site she hopes the quilt will remind people what was really important about the date; the people.

The quilt also was displayed during the inaugural year of the Quilt Show in 2007.

Carla Hill, Batavia Depot Museum Director, said the quilt has received a good response from viewers.

“Most of the people who saw it were really taken aback by it, including me,” Hill said. “I’m glad it’s coming back this year so that more people have the chance to see it.”

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 17 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 18 and 19.

The show will feature more than 100 quilts on display.

Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for seniors and free for children 10 and younger.
For information, call Carla Hill at (630) 406-5274.
