St. Charles, IL -

St. Charles East officials are investigating a threat of violence that appeared to pose no danger.

A threat was written on a bathroom wall Tuesday during the school’s fourth period: “I planted bombs across the whole school. Now the people who torment me will Die! May 14 will not be forgotten. My main target is 15 students and 7 teachers.”

After St. Charles police investigation revealed the threat was not valid, police said. St. Charles East Principal Bob Miller sent a notice to parents that student attendance was expected Wednesday. East officials believe a student may have been responsible and are offering a $2,000 for evidence leading to the culprit.

“I am very disappointed with this type of student behavior,” Miller said in a written statement.

It was the second such reported incident in District 303, as another threat was written at the St. Charles North baseball park dugout.
