The Batavia Police Department conducted arrest sweeps on Sept. 8 in four cases that were developed and investigated over several months.

Four offenders were arrested on narcotics charges as a result of previous delivers of narcotics to undercover police officers.

Shante J. Mosby, 21, 600 block of Spring Street in Aurora was arrested on two felony charges of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance after he sold cocaine to an undercover officer. The narcotics purchases took place in Batavia.

Jason W. Merritt, 23, 600 block of Iowa Street in Aurora was arrested and charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful delivery of a look-alike substance.

Merritt sold cocaine to an undercover officer in Batavia.

Andre C. Stewart, 23, of the 1300 block of East Wilson Street in Batavia was arrested and charged with unlawful delivery of a look-alike substance. The arrest was the result of Stewart selling a substance purported to be cocaine to an undercover officer in Batavia.

Chinetto T. Bennett, 31, 4254 S. Cicero Ave., Chicago was arrested and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and four counts of unlawful delivery of marijuana.

In addition to those charges, Bennett was also charged with felony aggravated battery of a police officer and felony resisting arrest when he fought with police while being taken into custody.

A Batavia officer was injured during the arrest, which took place in Batavia.
