When someone is in need, don’t expect Tom Wangler to sit idly by — instead, the Batavia resident and owner of Confident Aire Inc., steps in and does what he can to make life a little more comfortable.

For the second year in a row, he is hosting the Ultimate Energy Transformation, which will give a Tri-City family thousands of dollars in free services to decrease their energy costs by increasing the energy efficiency in their home, compliments of his business.

Services included in the makeover are a new furnace, air filtration system and other heating and cooling services.

He sought out nominations from area churches for the 2009 energy transformation.

Wangler said he feels fortunate in the current economy to still have a growing business and recognizes that there are others who are struggling just to make ends meet.

“We’re going to try and do it every single year,” he said.

He lauds his employees who were so excited about the project that they volunteered their time and labor to help.

“(Their enthusiasm) really motivated me to want to do it again,” Wangler said. “This means a lot to everybody here.”

In 2008, Wangler gave Michael and Susan Weiss of Batavia almost $10,000 in services to increase energy efficiency. The work included an indoor air quality analysis, a duct cleaning, and installing a new furnace and air filtration system.

“Our hearts are just so full of gratitude to Tom,” Susan Weiss said.
