The Accelerators running club will start its seventh track-and-field season April 6.

Practice will be held from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, April 6 to May 21, at Rotolo Middle School, 1501 S. Raddant Road.

Track meets will be held April 6, 16 and 28 at Mooseheart Stadium, 255 James J Davis Drive, Mooseheart. There will also be a meet May 14 at Rotolo.

The club, which is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 14, aims to try to instill in youth an appreciation for track and field while challenging them physically and mentally.

Running events include: 100-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 4x100 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, 800-meter run, and 1600-meter run.

Field events are shot put, discus and long jump.

The program costs $10. There are also optional charges of $10 for a T-shirt and $20 for a running singlet.

The Accelerators is open to Batavia residents and nonresidents.
