Achievements

• Evan Breedlove of St. Charles has been named to the dean’s list for the spring quarter 2007 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. Evan is the son of Cherryl and Brian Breedlove.

• Southern Illinois University Carbondale named 3,315 students to its spring semester dean’s lists. These students make up roughly 20 percent of the university’s undergraduate student body. Students from Batavia include Chelsea Cwiklik, Elizabeth Evanoff, Dana Garrison, Ryan Rendleman, Daniel Siedal,  Laura Teegarden, Gavin Todd, Aaron Wall, and Michael Wall. Collin Evans of Geneva has been named on the dean’s list. Students from St. Charles include Erin Humphreville, Ben Kissee, Cory Petermann, Sandy Rosencrans, Thomas Sieck Jr., Kyle Soerens, Christopher Cummins Jr., Scott Bergeson, Susan Secor, and Christine Zoerlein. Deans’ List recognition goes to students who compile grade-point averages that meet or exceed performance standards set by SIUC’s schools and colleges. The minimum standards vary by college and range from 3.25 to 3.75 on a scale of 4.0.

• Krista Jones of St. Charles, a music major at Millikin University, recently completed a four-week immersion in Urbania, Italy through the Bella Musica, Millikin in Italy program with 10 other students and four faculty members. The students combined intensive study of the Italian language with coursework, had a variety of performance opportunities, and took musical excursions. The trip was a unique experience that combined music and Italian study with learning about the Italian culture.

• Katherine McEnerney of St. Charles was recently named to the dean’s list at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. for the spring 2007 semester.

Graduates

• Katherine Schaefer, a 1995 Geneva High School graduate, recently received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Schaefer is completing her post doctorate fellowship at Northwestern Hospital of Chicago.

• Eastern Illinois University has announced the spring 2007 graduates. Graduates from St. Charles include Adrien Gauthier, bachelor of science in business; Jacquelin Schif, bachelor of science in education; Carolin Steffen, bachelor of arts; Raymond Weiss, bachelor of science in business; and Eric Zabinski, bachelor of science in business.

• Matthew Van Acker of St. Charles has graduated magna cum laude from St. Norbert College, DePere, Wis., on May 13. 

• Valparaiso University in Indiana has announced students who have successfully completed their degree requirements and graduated in May 2007. Graduates include Katie Schmidt of Batavia, bachelor of business administration in marketing; Kevin Grimoldby of Geneva, bachelor of sciences in sports management; Kirk Joss of St. Charles, bachelor of business administration in finance and economics; Michael Landmeier of St. Charles, bachelor of arts in history; Joseph Venegas of St. Charles, bachelor of sciences in mechanical engineering; Amanda Watson of St. Charles, bachelor of sciences in nursing, cum laude.
