Schmitz announces Independence Day contest

BATAVIA, IL -

State Rep. Tim Schmitz, (R-49) of Batavia, is now accepting essays from students for his annual Independence Day essay contest. Students are encouraged to write a 100-word essay about what they think makes America special and unique. One winner will be selected from grades first through third, fourth through sixth and seventh and eighth. Each winner will receive a gift certificate and all participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Essays are due by June 29 and should include the student’s name, address, telephone number, grade and school name. Students must reside within the 49th District, which includes portions of Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles. Essays can be dropped off or mailed to State Representative Tim Schmitz, c/o Essay Contest, 127 Hamilton St., Suite D, Geneva, IL 60134.
