Ryan Andrew Catey was born June 25, 2007, to Scott and Jennifer Catey of Oswego, at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. He weighed 8 pounds and 14 ounces, and measured 21 inches.

Michael McFarland of Batavia, a first-grader at Immanuel Lutheran School in Batavia, was escorted to school by Mayor Jeff Schielke in a Batavia fire truck Thursday.

The Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence is beginning the spring grant cycle for the Batavia Unit School District 101. The foundation presents grants on a competitive basis for enrichment programs, activities, and purchases that are not part of the district’s regular operating budget. It funds the grants with money from the interest accrued on its endowment fund and from contributions of individual and corporate sponsors.
