U-46 announced last week that 20 high school students were recognized at the Upstate Eight Art Competition that was held on Nov. 29.
Winners in the categories included:
- Drawing: Cory Tomlinson of Streamwood High School received a 2nd place medal.
- Painting: Lucy Miller of Larkin High School took 1st place and Aaron Good of Larkin took 2nd place. Honorable mention went to Liz Zonno and Magda Martynko of Bartlett High School.
- Photography: Melanie Johnson of Bartlett High School took 1st place, Natalie Gill of Larkin High School took 2nd place, Ryan Kraus of South Elgin High School took 3rd place and Patrick Gibbons of Larkin High School took 4th place.
- Digital Photography: Mara Ramirez from Elgin High School took 3rd place and Chad Durrance from Elgin High took 5th place
- Sculpture: Ryan Widmer of Bartlett High School and Rachel Ramberg of South Elgin took honorable mention
- Computer Graphics/design: Ana Alcala from Elgin High School took 4th and 5th place for two different designs
- Jewelry: Cassandra Delgado from Elgin High School took 3rd place, Alyssa Gonzalez from Elgin High School took 4th place and Maria Panthier from Elgin High took 5th place with honorable mention going to Tania Gonzalez from South Elgin High School.
- Mixed Media: Luis Goicachea from Elgin High School took 5th place
Their work will be on display at the Norris Gallery, 1050 Dunham Road, in St. Charles until Jan. 4. A reception and award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
