Four drivers suffered minor injuries after a five-car accident on Illinois Route 59 early this morning.
Around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Bartlett Police Department responded to the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and South Park Place Drive to investigate a traffic crash involving five vehicles.
Police said a 31-year-old Algonquin man was driving a blue 1999 Chevy S10 southbound on Illinois Route 59 near the intersection of West Bartlett Road. His vehicle struck a black 2006 Mazda vehicle while changing lanes, which caused both vehicles to go into the northbound lanes of traffic on Illinois Route 59 near South Park Place Drive. A tan 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was sideswiped, a black 2004 Audi Quattro sustained front end damage and a black 1990 Ford F250 was also damaged while traveling northbound on Illinois Route 59 as a result of the crash.
Illinois Route 59 was limited to one lane for about an hour while police investigated the crash.
The drivers of the 2006 Mazda, 2006 Chevrolet, 2004 Audi and the 1999 Chevrolet vehicles suffered minor injuries from the crash and were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates by the Bartlett Fire Protection District, Streamwood Fire Department and the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District. All patients were listed in good and stable condition.
Police do not suspect the crash was caused by a distraction inside the vehicle, alcohol or drug impairment. No charges have been filed at this time and police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
