A laundry room fire caused $5,000 in damages Thursday in Bartlett.

At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, the Bartlett Police Department and Bartlett Fire Protection District responded to the 1600 block of Hillcrest Lane to investigate a fire inside the laundry room area of a building.

The firefighters were able to successfully extinguish the fire; however, the laundry room and hallway of the building sustained smoke damage.

The fire caused approximately $5,000 worth of damage, according to fire officials, and it was confined to a dryer in the laundry room.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but it is still under investigation by the Fire District.
