A Schaumburg man accused of stabbing a Bartlett man in the face after breaking into his apartment is being held on a $150,000 bond.
Arturo Amezquita, 21, of Schaumburg, was arrested on felony charges of home invasion and battery after he broke into an apartment on the 500 block of Deere Park Circle May 11.
Amezquita broke into the front doors just as his family was coming home. He stabbed a man in his 20s in the face and struggled with him until paramedics arrived, police said.
Police immediately arrested Amezquita, who was still inside the apartment. There were three other adults in the apartment at the time the attack occurred, police said.
The Bartlett man was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates and released the next day. Amezquita was also transported to St. Alexius Mental Health services for evaluation, where he remained for a few days, police said.
Police believe it to be a random attack and have not found a link between the family and Amezquita.
Amezquita was transported to the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows. A judge set a court date for June 6.
