Bloomingdale school nurse loses fight with cancer

The Bloomingdale School District 13 community is mourning the loss of Lucy Pierri, a school nurse in the district for more than five years.
Pierri, 45, of Bloomingdale, died Thursday after a two-year battle with colon cancer. She is survived by her husband, Frank; and three children.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Salerno’s Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 450 Lake St., Roselle.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Isidore Parish, 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale.
Last year, co-workers and friends formed the “Love for Lucy” Foundation, a group that held benefits over the past year to assist the Pierri family during Lucy’s illness.
