The village of Bartlett presented a budget breakdown at its Tuesday night committee of the whole meeting.
According to Valerie Salmons, village administrator, the village has been diligent about under-spending since the recession hit about three years ago, and she believes the village will under-spend its budget by $681,000.
“The general fund balances are very, very healthy,” she said.
With a decrease in equalized assessed values this year, the village will see a slight increase of about 0.26 percent in property taxes.
According to Finance Director Jeff Martynowicz, the estimated property taxes for a $300,000 home will be approximately $667.
Public Works Director Paul Kuester revealed that the village exceeded its snowplow contracting budget by more than $300,000 because of last month’s blizzard.
Public works usually budgets $100,000 per year for plowing.
“We have blew that one big time this year,” Kuester said, but added that without the major snow fall, the department would still be well under budget.
Additionally, public works budgeted $250,000 for salt in the 2010-11 budget, which allowed the department 4,100 tons of salt the village is able to continue to work with next year.
