SOUTH BARRINGTON – Bird enthusiasts of all ages were invited to see birds of prey up close during Raptor Sunday on Oct. 20 at Stillman Nature Center, 33 W. Penny Road.

Stillman is home to a barn owl, broad-winged hawk, Eastern screech owl, turkey vulture, great horned owl, red-shouldered hawk and peregrine falcon. This event was part of Stillman's OktoBIRDfest celebration. Children had a chance to dissect owl pellets.

The center's executive director, Mark Spreyer, has been developing community outreach programs for nearly 25 years. Upcoming events include a free backyard bird feeder workshop at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.
