ADDISON, IL -

Addison School District 4 recently announced that current school superintendent Donald Hendricks will retire at the end of the 2008-09 school year, and the board has already named a successor.

The board appointed assistant superintendent John Langton as the new school chief at the April 22 Board of Education meeting. He will assume the duty in July 2009, school board president Dave Williams said. Hendricks signed a five year contract with the district in 2004, and will retire at the end of the contract, Williams said.

Langton has been with the district since 1997, serving as principal at Wesley Elementary and Indian Trail Junior High before becoming assistant superintendent for administrative services in 2003, officials said.
