Police said 48 pounds of marijuana and three guns were seized from a Downers Grove apartment and a hotel in Lombard after a drug investigation.
Downers Grove police have arrested eight people for felony offenses in connection with the investigation.
Officers responded Sept. 22 to an apartment in the 2200 block of Prentiss Drive after a resident reported a possible burglary in progress, police said.
Several people were seen leaving the area and were detained by the officers. Police discovered the people were meeting in an apartment, where 5 pounds of marijuana was being sold and a handgun was found. Police said a robbery did occur during the drug deal.
Five people were arrested at the apartment and two more were arrested at the Homestead Hotel in Lombard. A total of 42 pounds of marijuana was found in two hotel rooms along with $18,800 in cash.
The following people were arrested in connection with the investigation:
•Jose R. Maldonado, 20, Mount Prospect was charged with conspiracy, unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm. His bond is $500,000
•Matthew Rubi, 20, Arlington Heights, was charged with conspiracy, armed robbert and unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. His bond is $500,000.
•Valerie Cortez, 21, Des Plaines was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Her bond is $100,000.
•Ashley N. Stevenson, 20, Downers Grove was charged with conspiracy and armed robbery. Her bond is $500,000 bond.
•William Vrtis, 20, Downers Grove was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to sell. His bond is $300,000.
•Sovannara Ley, 30, Ontario, Canada was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to sell and delivering marijuana. Her bond is $750,000.
•Heath Kellogg, 33, Messina, New York, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with the intent to sell. His bond is $750,000.
•Jordon Marco, 18, Woodridge was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
