Police investigate death of pedestrian on Lake Street

ADDISON, IL -

Addison police are investigating the accident that killed a man trying to cross Lake Street.

Police said Amala Madhichetty, 44, of New Lisbon, Wis., was struck along eastbound Lake Street just after 5 p.m. June 9 in front of a Wendy’s restaurant, 655 W. Lake St.

Addison police Cmdr. Guy Hoffrage said Madhichetty was struck by an eastbound 2001 Ford Explorer while attempting to cross Lake Street. The driver’s name was not released since no charges have been filed in the accident.

The Wisconsin man was airlifted to Adventist GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, where he was pronounced dead at about 5:45 p.m., Hoffrage said.

No one else was injured in the accident. Police traffic officers and detectives in Addison are still investigating the accident.
