Volleyball is fun again for the powerful Gregus, who was slowed for over a year by two stress fractures in her back. The injury kept her out for the first half of last season and she wasn’t pain-free until recently.
“I learned a lot about my body since then, just how to take care of it,” Gregus said. “I grew so fast that I had injuries in my knees, hips, back, everything.
“But I’ve been through physical therapy almost every day in the summer, so I feel better than I ever have.”
Gregus is excited to play volleyball at Illinois, where her family has a proud history. Her father, Kurt, played linebacker and her uncle, Dan, defensive end for the Illini in the 1980s, while her sister Olivia, a former Benet volleyball player, currently attends the school.
