The start of the high school girls volleyball season initiates the drive toward Normal for the Class 2A and 3A state finals in November. Here’s the outlook for area teams.

Glenbard East Rams

Outlook: Grant considers last year’s record misleading as the Raiders played for long stretches with Camfield, Millet, Wilharm and Maggie Bair injured. Camfield, who had 601 assists and 87 digs last year, returns for her third varsity season as the starting setter. Millett, who had 257 kills and 56 kills, returns to the outside in her fourth varsity season after playing libero for much of last year. Grant hopes for a breakout season from Sweeton, who had 118 kills as a junior. Villa’s attacking looks much improved going into her third varsity season.

Glenbard West Hilltoppers

Harris is the returning libero with 483 digs as a freshman.
