La Grange Girlfriends Getaway set for April 27

LA GRANGE – Neighborhood businesses in La Grange are enticing shoppers with free gifts, discounts and one-day-only offers during Girlfriends Getaway, a spring sales promotion organized by the La Grange Business Association from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27.

Shoppers are invited for a day of shopping and pampering with diverse offers at 24 locations. A passport and map to all participating stops will be available at the local businesses, the La Grange Business Association, 26 S. La Grange Road, or online at lagrangeevents.com.

The passport, valued at more than $120, includes an offer for $5 off a $25 minimum purchase at each participating business.

Beginning at 10 a.m., free tote bags will be distributed to the first 100 women who start their getaway at Club Pilates La Grange, 18 W. Burlington Ave., the event’s presenting sponsor. Shoppers can stroll to participating merchants with their totes to receive free gifts, refreshments or special offers while supplies last.

Shoppers also may be eligible to win an overnight stay at the Ridge Hotel in Lake Geneva when they visit the Girlfriend stops and have their passports stamped.

Girlfriends Getaway is held with the support of the village of La Grange and is another event in a series organized by the La Grange Business Association to help position La Grange as a shopping and dining destination.

Sheri Walker, owner of Club Pilates La Grange, the main sponsor of the event, said the event emphasizes the importance of investing in friendships and the community.

“La Grange is home to so many unique shops and services, and this is a great opportunity to sample as many of them as you can,” Walker said. “It’s a really fun way to explore the neighborhood and get to know all the local business owners. They are the heart and soul of the community.”

The LGBA is a membership organization of more than 300 service businesses, restaurants, retailers and nonprofit organizations that strive to enhance the La Grange economy through networking opportunities, educational programs, special events and marketing programs.
