[George and Charlotte (played by Erick Sosa and Elizabeth Ley) are stage and screen stars in "Moon Over Buffalo."]
Soria said Carol Burnett starred in the original production of "Moon Over Buffalo," which is set in the 1950s. The plot is about George and Charlotte Hay, an acting and directing couple down on their luck.
"They imagine they should be in Hollywood and on Broadway, but they're playing the smaller theaters around the country like Buffalo, New York," Soria said. "They get word that a famous Hollywood director may be coming to replace the stars in his big movie. Chaos ensues [as they consider their stage performance an audition]. … We thought a love letter to the theater would be a great way to wrap up our 15th season."
The troupe will perform on Easter Sunday, and Soria said a special discount will apply that day.
Portraying George and Charlotte are Erick Sosa and Elizabeth Ley. Their daughter, Rosalind, is played by Katty Perrell. The two men vying for her affections are her hapless fiancé, Howard, played by Evan Zrinsky, and her ex-boyfriend, Paul, played by John Ley. George’s know-it-all mother-in-law, Ethel, is portrayed by Mary-Carol Riehs. Rounding out the cast are John Benischek, as the Hays’ lawyer, Richard, and Therese Caldwell, as Eileen, a young actor with a secret to reveal.
