The meniscus tear is one of Posada's first major injuries sustained as a wrestler, but he's not letting it hamper his ambition to return to state next weekend.
"I'm just going to keep grinding," said Posada, who entered sectionals with a 34-3 record. "I really want to get on that podium this year. It's my last year, I got to do what I can."
Joining Posada at state will be Martin, a talented junior who made it to state last year. Martin entered sectionals with a 36-4 record, and rode it all the way until the championship match at 120 pounds. Martin suffered a tough 6-4 loss to DeKalb's Danny Curran.
Martin left the mat visibly frustrated.
Posada, though, has high expectations for his buddy downstate.
"I believe he can place; I really do," Posada said.
