Meet the Candidates

League of Women Voters to host candidate forum

ELMHURST – Elmhurst residents will have the chance Feb. 10 to hear directly from candidates for local government offices during a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Elmhurst. The event will be from 12:30 to 5:15 p.m. at Elmhurst City Hall, 209 N. York St.

Candidates will speak about their qualifications and vision for their respective positions and respond to questions from the league and written questions from people who attend.

The event will feature candidates running for offices in the April 2 election, including Elmhurst City Council, Elmhurst Park Board, Community Unit School District 205 Board of Education and the College of DuPage Board of Trustees.

Candidates running for the two available seats on the Elmhurst Park District Board of Commissioners will kick off the event. In that race, incumbent Vince Spaeth, who serves as board president, is joined by Claire Kubiesa, Nora Wernette Baxtrom, James M. Colbert and Liz White in a battle for two seats.

Candidates for Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Board of Education are scheduled to speak from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. Eight candidates are running for four seats. The candidates are Paul A. DeMichele, Christopher Kocinski, incumbent Karen Stuefen, Stephan Schlesinger, Elizabeth Hosler, Gordon Snyder, Bojana Ozegovic Carey and Courtenae Trautmann.

Candidates in the two contested Elmhurst aldermanic races – a seat in Ward 1 and a seat in Ward 4 – are scheduled to speak from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.

Elizabeth Ambrogi and incumbent Alderman Mark Sabatino are running in Ward 1. Incumbent Alderwoman Noel Talluto and Mark Anglewicz are running for the Ward 4 seat.

Finally, candidates for the College of DuPage Board of Trustees will participate in a session from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Annette Corrigan and Dan Bailey of Wheaton, Marc Incrocci of Darien, and Maureen Dunne of Naperville are running for the two six-year-terms.

A video of the forum and candidates’ written responses to questions posed at the event will be available in March.
