The Senior Services of Will County Senior Advisory Council will present its Lifetime Achievement Award at its March 4 annual meeting to Will County Executive Larry Walsh Sr.

Walsh is being honored for his long service to Will County and the State of Illinois, according to a news release.

Last year, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White was named the recipient of the lifetime achievement award.

The meeting also is meant to recognize the strong support Senior Services has received from corporate and community partners during 2018.

"Our programs always focus on how we can move forward and do more," said Barry Kolanowski, executive director of Senior Services of Will County. "This gathering provides us the opportunity to hit the pause button and celebrate what has been accomplished."

The event also will recognize the growth Senior Services has experienced from 2015 through 2018. During that period, the units of service went from 269,000 to more than 460,000, meaning the number of engagements has nearly doubled.

To Senior Services, this not only reflects the increase in services but also the increase in the number of seniors in Will County. The U.S. census projects that before the end of 2019, the population of those 65 years old and older will reach 100,000, according to the release.

The annual meeting will be 10 a.m. March 4 at the Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center's Wallin Auditorium, located at 333 N. Madison St. in Joliet. The annual meeting is open to the public.
