Police: Elmhurst Public Library evacuated following threat

ELMHURST – Elmhurst Police reportedly are investigating a threat received Dec. 15 at the Elmhurst Public Library.

Police evacuated the library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., and are investigating a threat, according to a city of Elmhurst Facebook post issued at about 10:30 a.m.

Residents are asked to avoid the area, and the investigation is ongoing, the post stated.

Elmhurst resident James Colbert, who was at the library during the evacuation, said a library employees confirmed the threat.

"I asked two employees," Colbert said. "One just said it was a threat. The other said bomb threat," Colbert said.

Elmhurst police would not confirm a bomb threat.
