Lemont

District 113A honors teacher of the year

Oakwood School's Sue Gray lauded by staff, students

Lemont-Bromberek School District 113A teacher Sue Gray was honored as the SD113A Educator of the Year Nov. 15 during the Lemont Community Awards Luncheon.

Gray was one of nine Best of Lemont honorees at the luncheon, which was hosted by the Lemont Chamber of Commerce at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.

A teacher in School District 113A for 33 years, Gray teaches kindergarten at Oakwood School.

Gray has many accomplishments over the course of her career including being one of the first pilot classrooms for a one-to-one technology personalized learning initiative. She serves on multiple committees while volunteering her time and efforts to do what’s best for the children she serves.

"Sue Gray is an exceptional teacher who embodies everything you would want in a kindergarten teacher," said Oakwood Principal Kelly Zimmerman. "She is nurturing, kind, enthusiastic about her students and loves learning. She is an asset to Oakwood School and will be sorely missed next year after she retires."
