PeopleCare appointed Judy Mantel to executive director. The move was effective Oct. 28. Mantel replaced former executive director Bruce Jablonski, the son of the organization’s founder Helen Jablonski.
Mantel has spent 11 years at PeopleCare, most recently as the office manager at the company’s Riverside headquarters. She also will serve as the chief operating officer and will report to the company’s Board of Directors.
“At a pivotal time in PeopleCare’s history and with its important focus on serving area seniors, we are so delighted that a dedicated staff member will be sharing her considerable talents to guide us both day to day and as we grow into the future,” PeopleCare president Mary Coonda said. “We look forward to working even more closely with Judy, and are indebted to Bruce Jablonski for his long service and continued guidance.”
Mantel is responsible for program development, strategy and administration and oversight of the volunteer corps. She also will act as the board conduit, community liaison and budgetary manager.
“The mantra of ‘No older adult should ever feel abandoned in the last third of their lives’ is one I have believed in throughout the last 11 years working at PeopleCare,” Mantel said.
Mantel started her career as a Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Specialist at Michael Reese Hospital and has been an active volunteer for organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America, the Boy Scouts of America, Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade, Riverside Chapter of Infant Welfare Society and the AFS Exchange Student Organization.
