FOOD TRUCK RALLY AND SUNSET 5K

ABOUT: One of the premier running – and dining – events in the western suburbs is on tap. The Food Truck Rally, from 2 to 8 p.m., will feature a lineup of 15 food trucks from across the area featuring curbside cuisine. There’s no fee for entry to the Food Truck Rally and no need to run the 5K to attend. A USATF-certified Sunset 5K Run begins at 4:30 p.m., with walkers welcome. It is preceded by a 100-Yard Youth Dash for kids ages 4 to 9 at 3:30 p.m. There is a fee to participate in the 5K and the Youth Dash. The Kid Zone will have Bozo buckets, a bouncy house, face painting and games.

ABOUT: The brave can explore a large, outdoor haunted maze, take a hayride through the Central Park haunted forest, visit the pumpkin patch and enjoy crafts, fireside stories and games. With ghouls and goblins galore, the maze is not for the faint of heart. Other activities include bounce houses, candy in a haystack and tattoos. The number of tickets required for activities varies from zero to five and are sold at the gate.

ABOUT: The DuPage County Historical Museum and the Wheaton Park District present an all-ages Octoberfest featuring live music, a beer garden, children’s area and a variety of food vendors. Musical performers include The Happy Wanderers from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Stark Raving Dad from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Person to Person from 8 to 10 p.m. The suggested $5 donation benefits the DuPage County Historical Museum.
