West Suburban Chamber to host free health festival in McCook

McCOOK – The West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold its third annual
Regional Health, Wellness and Safety Family Festival, in partnership with AMITA Health, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Max McCook Athletic & Exposition Center in McCook.

In addition to various vendors covering health, finances, aging care and more, the free event will feature Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass, who will share some of his cooking secrets and offer commentary on health and wellness at 11 a.m.

For early risers, there will be a youth soccer demonstration by LG Celtics Soccer Club and a CrossFit demonstration by Absolution CrossFit at 8 a.m.

The festival also will include a blood drive sponsored by Heartland Blood Centers, teddy bear clinic sponsored by Amita Health, face painting, inflatables, Touch-A-Truck, interactive photo booth, kid zone featuring area gymnastics and fitness studios, adult "drumming" from Plymouth Place and food options from area restaurants, bakeries and caterers.
