ELMHURST – An Elmhurst man has been charged with felony unauthorized video recording after he allegedly videotaped a 17-year-old girl Sept. 12 at an Elmhurst residence.

Albert Garcia, 34, of the 900 block of North York Street, appeared in DuPage County bond court the morning of Sept. 14 where Judge Brian Jacobs set his bond at $100,000 with 10 percent to apply, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's Office news release.

It is alleged that on Sept. 12, Garcia secretly positioned his cellphone in the bathroom at the residence, the release stated. He then allegedly activated the video record function and exited the bathroom, according to the release.

A short time later, the victim went to the bathroom and noticed the concealed phone, the release stated. The victim immediately alerted a trusted adult to what she had found, who in turn contacted the police, according to the release.

"The allegations against Mr. Garcia are, in a word, sickening," DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the release. "Invading another person's privacy in such a revolting manner will not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law."

Garcia’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 9 for arraignment in front of Judge Robert Miller, the release stated.
