LA GRANGE – Cook County Board of Review commissioner Dan Patlak will hold three property tax assessment appeal seminars in Lyons Township for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2018 property tax assessments.
The seminars will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at La Grange Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road, La Grange; 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at Countryside Village Hall, 5550 East Ave., Countryside; and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Justice Village Hall, 7800 Archer Road, Justice.
The seminars are hosted by Lyons Township Assessor Barbara Weyrick, Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin, state Sen. John Curran and Justice Mayor Kris Wasowicz. The hour-long events will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal, according to a Board of Review news release.
The seminars include a presentation by Patlak explaining the appeal procedure at the Board of Review. Before the end of each evening, taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with staff from the board to address their specific questions and concerns, the release stated.
The events are free to the public, and no registration is required, according to the release.
Lyons Township is open for appeal at the Board of Review through Oct. 9. There is no fee to appeal at the board, the release stated.
Appeal forms also can be picked up at the Board of Review, 118 N. Clark St., Room 601, Chicago. Taxpayers can file an appeal online as well by visiting the board's website, cookcountyboardofreview.com.
