Wheaton police investigate car burglaries at 2 parks

WHEATON – The Wheaton Police Department has received several reports of burglaries to motor vehicles in the past two weeks at Northside and Rathje parks, according to a news release from the city of Wheaton.

In these instances, the vehicles' windows were shattered and valuables removed from the unattended vehicles, the release stated.

The Police Department is investigating these burglaries. Those with information are encouraged to contact Wheaton Police Lt. Bill Cooley at 630-260-2077.

The department also reminds residents that if they are parking in or near a park to park their vehicle in a visible location, roll up the windows and lock the doors, and avoid leaving valuables visible, according to the release. They also should call 911 to report suspicious people and behaviors.
