Big fan of Drake after hospital visit

I’m not a fan of rap music, but I just read [Suburban Life's] article about the Canadian rapper Drake visiting Sofia Sanchez from Downers Grove at Lurie Children's Hospital. How absolutely wonderful. I honestly don’t know anything else about Drake, but I am now a big Drake fan.

Superintendent salary increase should mirror taxpayers' raises

I'm not opposed to [Community High School] District 99 Superintendent Hank Thiele receiving a salary increase. By the same token, District 99 should keep the salary for a superintendent competitive with other high school districts. But, to give Dr. Thiele a pay raise of 10.78 percent is a bit misguided. I know many people who work for Fortune 500 companies. It is quite typical for a person who gets a very good annual performance review to get a salary increase of 1 percent to 3 percent. It just doesn't appear that the board understands that many taxpayers aren't getting good pay increases, while the Social Security benefits of retirees are linked to the annual inflation rate, which has been low for some time. Perhaps the board should have considered four annual increases of roughly $5,600 to Dr. Thiele's salary. That would have made the first increase 2.69 percent, in line with the kinds of salary increases that many taxpayers are receiving.
