Former Glen Ellyn police officer Dennis Jamieson is being remembered for his contributions to the Glen Ellyn and Wheaton area.

Jamieson, a Carol Stream resident, died suddenly Aug. 8 at his home. He was 82.

A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Memorial gifts can be directed to Wheaton Drama, 111 N. Hale St., Wheaton, IL 60187.

Jamieson was a Glen Ellyn police officer for 33 years, advancing to the rank of lieutenant. In addition, he was an active member of Kiwanis and Wheaton Drama.

"Since joining [Wheaton Drama] in 2004 he was a force to be reckoned with," Wheaton Drama stated in an email to its members. "He was the voice behind our answering system, talking with our patrons and making them feel good. He answered questions, solved ticket problems and was a friendly face in the lobby. He will be missed."

In 2017, Jamieson received the Alice Burnham Award in recognition of his many hours of service to Wheaton Drama.

In an email, Wheaton Drama member Dee Hicks said "he worked very hard at training people to take over his time consuming job, which not only included dealing with ticket orders, but in maintaining our patron list."

"He had great communication skills that endeared him to our patrons," Hicks said.
