DOWNERS GROVE – The annual Harvest Fest and DG 5&8 Miler will be Sept. 29.

The day will kick off with the 41st annual DG 5&8 Miler, a race through Downers Grove. The race begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the festival from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a Downers Grove Park District news release.

The registration fee for the 5-miile race is $50 in advance and $55 on race day. The fee for the 8-mile race is $60 in advance and $65 on race day, the release stated.

The race kicks off at the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Ave., and ends at Harvest Fest, which will be at Fishel Park, 1050 Grove St.

The fest begins after the race and features free activities for the whole family, including live music, a craft fair and the pumpkin patch children’s area. The fest also will feature a pie-eating contest and a bags area sponsored by Alter Brewing Co., according to the release.

Local food vendors will serve a variety of entrees, and cold beverages will be on tap. For a full schedule of activities, visit dgparks.org.
