The eighth annual Day of the Immigrant event, organized by the Southwest Suburban Immigrant project, is set for Sept. 22 in Bolingbrook.
The Day of the Immigrant is one part resource fair, one part celebration of the immigrant community in the southwest suburbs. The aim is to help promote culture and tradition of the local immigrant community and to help the immigrant community get exposed to resources available locally. The event also will feature food vendors and live music.
The Day of the Immigrant has attracted up to 15,000 attendees in past years.
The event will take place at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center at 375 W. Briarcliff Road. Those interested in attending can RSVP on the Facebook event. Organizers also are offering opportunities for volunteers and sponsorships.
The Southwest Suburban Immigration Project is a nonprofit advocacy group working to organize for the rights of immigrants, education and civic engagement in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.
