ELMHURST – GreenMan Theatre will hold auditions this month for the play “The Diary of Anne Frank," which will run from Sept. 28 through Oct. 14.
Auditions will be Aug. 12 starting at 2 p.m. and Aug. 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m. at the troupe's performance space at 232 S. York St. in Elmhurst.
The play tells the true story of two Jewish families in Amsterdam who are hiding from the Nazis during World War II. The play, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, has been newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman.
Actors interested in auditioning should request an audition time by emailing email@example.com. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script with other actors, according to a GreenMan Theatre news release. Callbacks, if needed, will be scheduled for Aug. 16.
There are roles for five women and eight men. Three of the characters are in their teens during the action of the play: Anne, her sister, Margot, and Peter Van Daan. Children who would like to audition need the permission of a parent or guardian, the release stated. Three of the men's roles are small, requiring minimal rehearsal, according to the release.
There is no pay, the release stated.
