The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways was scheduled to begin resurfacing East Avenue from 47th Street to Ogden Avenue in La Grange and Brookfield this week.
The project, which includes the milling and resurfacing of the existing pavement, sidewalk removal and ADA-compliant ramp construction, curb and gutter replacement, and drainage structure adjustments, is expected to be completed in July, according to a village of La Grange news release.
The work will be performed by D-Construction.
Localized lane closures will be required to accommodate the work, the release stated. At least one lane of traffic in both the northbound and southbound directions will remain open at all times. Additionally, street parking on East Avenue will be restricted.
Traffic delays are expected, and motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid the work zone, according to the release. They are asked to plan accordingly and exercise care when driving through the construction zone. Signs and message boards will be posted alerting motorists of the resurfacing work and parking restrictions.
All schedules and work progress are dependent on weather, the release stated.
