BERWYN – Berwyn police officers were among the law enforcement personnel May 18 to stake out Dunkin' Donuts to support Special Olympics Illinois.
Officers were at the Dunkin' Donuts at 6601 Cermak Road in Berwyn from 5 a.m. until noon as part of Cop on a Rooftop, which raises awareness and donations for the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.
Illinois law enforcement officers were stationed at 295 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops throughout the state, where they hoped to top the 2017 donation total of more than $700,000 from 272 rooftops, according to an event news release. This year's event raised more than $800,000, the Law Enforcement Torch Run announced on its Facebook page.
