DOWNERS GROVE – A Summit man was sentenced May 1 to 5 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old female acquaintance at a Downers Grove park, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's Office news release.

Anthony Nemeth, 28, of the 7500 block of West 58th Place, appeared before Judge Robert Miller and pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, the release stated.

The sentence stems from allegations that in October 2017, Nemeth sexually abused the girl. The girl’s parents were alerted, and they contacted the Downers Grove Police Department, who in turn contacted the DuPage County Children’s Center, according to the release.

Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued March 1 for Nemeth. The following day, Nemeth appeared in bond court where bond was set at $250,000. He has remained in custody since that time, the release stated.

Nemeth will be required to serve 50 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He also will be required to register as a sex offender for life, according to the release.
