Wheaton North placed on lockdown following report of man with knife in area

WHEATON – At 9:30 a.m. March 14, the Wheaton Police Department assisted the DuPage County Sheriff's Office in attempting to locate a man with a knife in the area of Geneva Road and Gary Avenue, according to a news release from the city of Wheaton.

Wheaton North High School, St. Mark's Catholic Church and Carl Sandburg Elementary School were placed on lockdown. The buildings are in close proximity of each other.

The individual was located and subsequently taken into custody by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, the release stated.

According to the release, the incident was unrelated to those buildings, and the lockdown was conducted as a precautionary measure.
