COUNTRYSIDE – Community members celebrated St. Patrick's Day a week early as they raised money for two charities at Countryside's third annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 10.
Proceeds from sponsorships and parade entry fees benefited the Illinois chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America Pathway to Adventure Council.
The 1-mile parade kicked off at 1 p.m. at Kensington Avenue and 61st Street.
The queen of this year's parade was Lyons Township High School student Meaghan O'Neill, who is a citizen of both Ireland and the United States and a resident of Countryside. The parade's grand marshal was Tony Bresnahan, the owner of Chariot Automotive and a long-time member of the community.
Entertainment included various musical and dance performances, including some by area schools.
