In response to 'Better snow removal for Downers Grove cul-de-sacs'
To the cul-de-sac complainer. You moved to a nice, peaceful, dead end street that is basically an extension of your driveway and helps no one except you get from point “A” to point “B." During a heavy snow, you want plowing priority or a tax rebate? Your taxes should go up for personal door to real street service.
Put snow back where it started
I'm complaining about the snow. Why can't we throw the snow in the street, when the Berwyn plows block our driveway and that? That's from the street, onto our property, and some of these drivers go through that stuff so fast, it's ridiculous. It's all the way on the sidewalk. So it should go back to the street where it came.
Best use of taxpayer dollars?
I feel that the [Community] High School District 99 should stick to educating the students, not spending time and money to educate the taxpayers to approve a multimillion-dollar bond issue. Are they trying to build a legacy for themselves at the taxpayers' expense?
No more excuses
The Florida shooter, Nikolas Cruz, pulled the trigger on his assault rifle, but the NRA, the members of the NRA, the Republican legislators at federal and state levels and Republican voters put the gun in his hands. They are complicit in this mass shooting as well as all the other shootings and gun violence in this country. The NRA buys politicians through campaign donations in order to block gun law reforms. The members of the NRA are silent in demanding change. The Federal Republicans rescind rules that prevent the mentally unstable from obtaining guns. The Florida State legislature passes laws that allow 18 year olds to buy assault weapons. And the Republican voters put these people in office. I hope that the kids protesting are successful at shaming the supposed adults into enacting sensible gun law reform, but I am not optimistic. ... I understand that campaign [dollars] trump good public policy. But what's the excuse for the voters accepting these lame excuses and putting these NRA lackeys back in office?
