DOWNERS GROVE – Community High School District 99 will open the doors of its high schools to the community Feb. 21 and 22 to help residents learn more about the proposed master facility plan.
"Many community members have never been inside our schools, or haven't been through them in a long time," Superintendent Hank Thiele said in a statement. "We invite everyone who is interested in our facility plan to hear our presentation and take a tour so that they can better understand how we are proposing to transform our buildings for the future."
District 99's March 20 referendum question calls for $136.6 million in capital facility improvements for both Downers Grove North and South high schools.
The Board of Education voted Dec. 18, 2017, to place the question on the ballot. That decision came after the district conducted both a mail survey and phone poll to gauge support for the initiative.
Downers Grove South, 1436 Norfolk St., will host an open house Feb. 21 in the cafetorium. An informational session will run from 7 to 7:40 p.m., followed by a building tour from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. and a Q&A session from 8:20 to 9 p.m.
Downers Grove North, 4436 Main St., will host a similar event Feb. 22 in the auditorium and follow the same schedule.
Content of the presentations will be similar, but tours will vary based on location. The district asks residents to RSVP at csd99.org/MFP. Detailed information about the plan can be found there as well.
